Bells, Wells & Womb is an innovative music theatre production by Cork-based collective Intersections. This collaborative performance and ritual art project brings together the talents of Victoria Keating (vocalist and composer), Mark Wilkins (musician and composer), and Mick Wilkins (acclaimed sculptor and bronze cast bell-maker).
|
Through the mediums of music, sculpture, and storytelling, the trio explores themes of sound, mythology, ecology, language, and the sacred feminine. Their work seeks to reawaken Ireland’s ancient holy wells, restoring these sites to their original pre-Christian goddesses, and reviving the balance of feminine and masculine energies. Central to this project are handmade bronze bells, crafted by Mick Wilkins using Bronze-Age techniques dating back over three thousand years. These bells produce sound only through touch or wind, encouraging attentive listening and presence, and serving as a sonic metaphor for reverence and renewal.
