As in previous years, we held a raffle to raise funds towards the running costs of the Community Centre and Theatre.

An Irish landscape photographer based in Kinsale, Simon grew up in the scenic countryside of West Cork, where he always felt a strong connection with nature and the ancient landscape of Ireland. As a self-taught photographer, he is constantly experimenting and testing out new ideas; capturing moments and playing with light. His photos are unique and highly collectable. Simon prints and frames his own photographs, using only the best quality art paper and archival inks to ensure that they will last a lifetime.

Living in Tracton since 2004, Gerda always had a love of the sea and an interest in art. Since 2015 she has taken art courses and holidays with local artists, and is now able to bring two of her favourite pastimes together by painting beautiful seascapes in watercolour. Most of Gerda's paintings are scenes of the local beach, Rocky Bay, where she often swims, but recently she has also painted Roberts Cove.

An Intuitive Artist based in Lissarda, Co.Cork. Hazel makes objects from nettle fibre which she gathers from a sustainable source. Once processed, dried, and braided, the nettle fibres can be used to create one-off pieces, or mixed with clay and sea glass to make hanging ornaments.

She has a particular interest in painting Irish wildlife, especially birds, and sells beautiful original paintings, framed prints, and mounted prints and cards. TRACTON BOOKS
The Tracton Books were prepared and published in 2007 and 2011 respectively, as fundraisers for the restoration and extension of the Knocknamanagh Old School - now Traton Arts & Community Centre. Between them the books raised over €20,000 for the Knocknamanagh project. From a total of 2,500 printed, only a small number are still available for sale now. The 40th anniversary publication, which celebrates the long-lived Tracton News Sheet, is a compilation of some of the key articles which have appeared in the News Sheet in its 40 year history. Between them, the three publications offer a detailed and invaluable history of the Tracton area; they will be of use as references in future, and will make a lovely gift for anyone whose roots are in Tracton but who now live abroad. The books are €10 each, or buy all three together for just €25. Free delivery within the Tracton area. Great value for Christmas 2020! Nadia makes art keepsakes in the form of objects, books, drawings and paintings, and she takes commissions. From your own photographs she will create a beautiful piece of art for you to treasure.

VERONICA CREMEN
Veronica lives on a farm near Belgooly. Following early retirement from the financial industry she studied Interior Architecture, Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media & Sculpture, and Fine Arts. She paints in oils and acrylics, often using a palette knife. Textile pieces include hand-printing and embroidery embellishment. Veronica's artworks maybe unpredictable because she draws her inspiration from the present (e.g. from current seasons, feelings, events etc.) She loves both the discipline and freedom of making art, and seeing the responses of others to it.

CARMEL SMYTH - BATIK ARTIST
Carmel is based in Fennell's Bay Crosshaven. The process of Batik involves using melted wax on cotton, which is then dip dyed; it is repeated for however many colours are required, the darkest usually the last. Living at the entrance to Cork harbour, Carmel's work depicts mainly nature, inspired by the ever-changing land and seascape around her.
Carmel is based in Fennell's Bay Crosshaven. The process of Batik involves using melted wax on cotton, which is then dip dyed; it is repeated for however many colours are required, the darkest usually the last. Living at the entrance to Cork harbour, Carmel's work depicts mainly nature, inspired by the ever-changing land and seascape around her.

ANASTASIA STEPNOVA
Anastasia is originally from Russia and has called Ireland home since 2013. Graduated in Architecture, she started learning silversmithing in St John’s Central College in Cork in 2015. Anastasia's inspiration is Irish nature; walking in the woods on a cold winter day, the scents and the sounds, the beauty of the naked branches. She creates her jewellery as tiny pieces of nature to wear, playing with organic shapes and textures in her works. Anastasia creates under brand name ’37 blackbirds’. Her pieces are handcrafted in her small studio in Carrigaline, where she does everything possible to create with minimum to zero waste processes, recycling all scrap metal to make new pieces. |
