VERMIGLIO

In Italian and Ladin - an Austro-German romance language spoken in the Dolomites - with subtitles.

The year is 1944. The remote Italian Alpine village of Vermiglio is a place of timeless rhythms and rituals, unchanged for centuries. It is a world away from the war consuming the rest of Europe. However, the ragged edges of combat finally reach the mountain: two deserters - one a son of the village, the other a stranger from Sicily – take shelter within the community. Lucia, the eldest daughter of the stern village teacher, is drawn to the stranger, and a tentative romance blossoms into marriage. But their union sets in motion a string of devastating consequences. This powerful film is a story of women, war and family.

Films are usually screened at 8pm on the second Friday of each month.
Film Society Membership* is great value* at €60, and gains you entry to all films screened at The Inkwell Theatre throughout the year.

Alternatively, pay €8 per screening on the door.

*Membership is great value, but not mandatory. Occasionally, when a film is known to be particularly popular, and therefore likely to sell out, we will sell tickets in advance online. However, unless stated otherwise, tickets will be sold on the door at each screening.

We can only accept new members in September each year.
Film Society Membership runs for 12 months from September each year; this is a condition of our contract with Access Cinema, who obtain the licences for the films we screen on the basis of the number of members we have at the beginning of this 12 month period.
