TRACTON GREENWAY / BLUEWAY
Following a series of workshops in 2019/2020 facilitated by SECAD, the various communities of Belgooly, Kinsale, Tracton, Riverstick, Ballispittle and Ballinadee have embarked on the formation of a community partnership centred on care of each other and our natural world. This partnership will aim to capture all voices within the communities, to pool our resources and to work together on projects which will enhance the lives of everyone in these communities as we face the challenges ahead.
The development of a connecting greenway / blueway, as both amenities and ecological corridors, is in the early stages of discussion by a working group formed from representatives of each community. This would allow people the opportunity to spend more time either walking or cycling in the natural environment rather than having to drive, which would be better for our health and the environment. It has been agreed that a feasibility study will be applied for as an initial step, and the group is inviting input from members of Tracton community which can be included. Please consider the following questions, and send your comments to hodowd@tracton.org by Monday, 2nd November 2020.

There's something special about Tracton...
From an ecological perspective, the diversity of the natural habitats in our local area makes Tracton unique.
The combination of woodland, estuary, salt marsh, open farmland, freshwater lake, rivers and shoreline attracts a wide variety of butterflies, moths migrant birds and other animals, and it supports rare and unusual plants. To the members of these different species Tracton is home; it provides the special conditions they require to survive, grow, thrive and rear their families.
If you are interested to learn more about the wonderfully unique environment in which you live, and also fun ways in which you and your family can appreciate and contribute to maintaining this biodiversity, please provide us with your email address so that we can notify you of upcoming activities and events.
