There are due to be 38 artisits exhibiting their work at our 2022 exhibition - they include:
Rose Neenan
Rose is a local artist. Her main focus is creating Sandpaintings. This is a unique approach to painting with sand, texture, colour and depth. The pattern of the sand falls onto the watercolour paper to create the 'outline' of the piece and layers of acrylic inks and paint are added to create the magic of the ever changing colours. The light catches aspects of the painting at different times of the day and evokes subtle changes in the hues. |
Triona Ryan
Triona’s sculptures are predominantly figurative. She finds inspiration in nature and the human form and is particularly drawn to themes of aliveness and stillness. She models in clay or wax and then casts in bronze, glass, jesmonite, fiberglass, plaster etc. She also produces sculpture pieces in ceramic and mix mediums. She has exhibited her work at the Ballymaloe Sculpture Exhibition (’20 &’21), Kinsale Arts Week (’20 &’21) and at the Tracton Art Festival in 2020. She recently participated in a group exhibition in Innishannon in support of The Marie Keating Foundation. She is currently completing a BA Degree in Applied Art at The Crawford College of Art and Design in Applied Arts – Ceramics, Glass, and Textiles. |
Maree O'Sullivan
Maree is a Silk Painting and Mixed Media Artist. She loves the visual effects of freedom of the paint as it takes on a life of it's own once it hits the silk, and the colours merge together. As a Floral Designer, flowers have shaped her identity, and directed her towards painting large blooms. Maree predominately paints on silk, but also loves to dabble in mixed media. She has a passion for upcycling and upstyling pre-loved furniture and other items... including wellies. |
Roser Perez
Inspired by Nature’s Unique Designs, I have never felt more at home than in the country that welcomed my dreams. Ireland, her sinuous coastline, her amethyst and topaz skies, her turquoise waves and white horses…her pearly dawns and ruby sunsets… A nation of musicians and crafters, poets, fishermen, land worshippers and dream catchers. My work is very versatile, it has evolved with different materials and techniques and explores a range of media which, to me, is 3-dimensional, and in that sense, sculptural and tactile. Stone and metal are at the core of my exploration, looking to connect with the very basic concept of life and its origins. What I continuously struggle with is how to present my work as a whole, without making it Sculpture “or” Jewellery.. or “Art”. As a sculptor and a silversmith, I sense and feel in a dimensional way and I am forever inspired by life and the natural forces that shape our environment, like time, water, wind, pressure… I am strongly attracted to the natural materials that these forces have produced in their ever evolving geological legacy. My work is filled with life cycle experiences, enriched by the unique people I have shared them with, informed by different cultures and points of view, always pushing its boundaries in search of connection. From the stone carving process of large marble and limestone sculptures, to the shaping of malleable metals in my relief and repousse work, this passion for form and design has found its expression in the art of silversmithing of noble metals. From stone sculpture to jewellery, the challenge remains as a discovery voyage to the universal shape and form and its infinite human expressions. |
Triona O’Neill
Take a walk on the wild side! Triona is inspired by the Wild Atlantic Way. Her vivid pastels capture the iconic birds and native flowers scattered along our dramatic western seaboard. Born in seafaring Kinsale, the ocean has been a constant motif in her life, and it was only a matter of time before she turned her painterly eye to our breathtaking coastline and its wildlife. Each unique picture offers a snapshot of our rich natural heritage. |
Sara Roberts (b.1962, Cork)
Sara is a ceramicist living and working near Nohoval, Co Cork. She studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin, from 1980-84, graduating in Visual Communications and worked as a graphic designer in London, Australia and Ireland until 2000. From 2000-2002 she undertook a City & Guilds ceramics course and was subsequently awarded a bursary at Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa in Cork. In 2003 Sara set up her own studio and has been working in clay since. She exhibits regularly with The Society of Cork Potters and Cork Craft and Design, both of which she is an active member. She sells her pieces through craft galleries and annually at Gifted, Craft and Design Fair, Dublin. She has shown abroad in Scotland, Newfoundland, India and most recently in the USA. She takes commissions and her work is part of many private collections. She welcomes visitors to her studio to view her process and her current body of work. Patterns, textures, colours found along her native shorelines are the main source of inspiration in Sara’s work. On thin porcelain slabs she aims to capture the sense of quiet isolation or the energy of the sea, the essence, the mood, the sense of place. Artist Statement: Having a background in graphic design means attention to imagery, form and presentation comes naturally to me, and informs my work as a ceramicist. I enjoy the challenge of portraying my natural environment, the allure of its ever-changing textures and colours, making images created from their actual constituent parts: the earth (clay), the sand (glaze) the rocks (pigments). My work often depicts expanses of sand, sea and sky, with distant horizons and detailed foregrounds creating a three-dimensional effect, a sense of calm isolation, drawing the viewer deep into the landscape and beyond. Lynn Stringer
Lynn is a botanical artist living and working in County Wicklow. She has had solo shows and taken part in many group exhibitions. Her work has been exhibited in the National Gallery of Ireland and in the National Botanic Gardens, and some of her paintings have won gold medals at Bloom. She regularly collaborates with Seamus O'Brien, Head Gardener of Kilmacurragh Gardens in Wicklow, and paints plants from that garden for Curtis' Botanical Magazine which is published by Kew Gardens. |
Tommy Lysaght
Tommy has been involved with stone for over 20 years, beginning with stone building and restoration, heritage work, organic horticulture, and garden design. In more recent years, with the support, guidance and mentorship of a number of master sculptors he has been developing his artistic expression in stone, creating organic abstract work inspired by forms from the natural world. “My practice is an expression, an exploration, and a rekindling of our relationship with nature, and a way of reconnecting with our place within the wild systems so often forgotten and threatened by the demands of the modern world.” Alongside this, I feel privileged to work in education and community arts, and to share my love of sculpture and carving with others. This includes workshops with youth and community groups and marginalised people, encouraging their self-expression and creativity through engagement with natural materials, and with stone carving. In turn, I gain inspiration from the resilience and creative solutions these groups find to deal with obstacles, vulnerabilities, and challenges they face in their art, and in their daily lives.” |
Victor Richardson
Victor has exhibited widely in Ireland, Britain and America for many years. He is represented by galleries in Dublin, London and Belfast. "What immediately strikes one on viewing Richardson's paintings is their sheer effervescence. They bubble with life. Like bubbles in a glass of champagne, the colours pop and dance across the canvas".
Síle Connaughton-Deeny |
Lorraine Hogan
Lorraine is a visual artist and singer-song writer based in County Cork. She graduated from Crawford Art College with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art. Her practice is multidisciplinary, and the art work is nearly always a response to the environment. Lorraine's paintings contemplate the fragmentation of time and biodiversity. The paintings are built up of geometric shapes, elements of repetition, pattern and vivid colour. The 2 km restriction during the pandemic, and the notion of stopping and seeing how important biodiversity is, is where the series ‘Yellow Halo’ began. |
